What is the difference between Tritton Xbox 360 AX Pro vs Tritton AX 720 ?

With around 20 USD difference, which one to buy, Tritton Xbox 360 AX Pro or Tritton AX 720  for your XBOX 360 console gaming ? I would say go with the Tritton Xbox 360 AX Pro ! You may think this headset is dated but it is not ! To win a price war, lately most of headsets that claim as a surround headset actually a virtual surround or it means that it comes with only one speaker on each phone.

Tritton Xbox 360 AX Pro Dolby Digital Precision Version 1.0 Gaming Headset

For me, I don’t think it is a good way to go with a Dolby digital gamine experience, you may say you barely feel a difference between a virtual surround headset and a true surround headset and that’s perhaps true due to an advance of technology, but with around 20 USD different why don’t go with 8 speakers of Tritton Xbox 360 AX Pro instead of 2 speakers of Tritton AX 720. But the true surround headset also comes with a downside, it may heavier than a virtual surround due to its 8 speakers and may cause you uncomfortable if you wear it too long.

Turtle Beach Ear Force X42 Wireless Dolby Surround Sound Gaming Headset

From my experience, if you play FPS like Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Battlefield, tactic TPS like Ghost Recon : Future Soldier, or TPS like Max Payne, it is very hard to tell a direction of enemies’ gunfires (this happened with Resistance Burning Skies as well, I cannot tell where are enemies due to its stereo audio system), and also due to the released of Amazon Instant Video, and many internet streaming apps on XBOX 360, I think add a little more money to gain a Dolby headset is a better idea, you can enjoy a surround audio system from movies as well as gaming, I think it is a good investment. So I think Ear Force X42 is a better choice than  X32 but keep in mind that this Turtle Beach Ear Force X42 is a virtual surround – not a true surround headset, if you want to buy a true surround you may want to check out a difference between virtual surround and true surround here.

Ear Force X12 Gaming Headset and Amplified Stereo Sound

Unlike PS3 that you can have a Blu-ray drive, XBOX 360 only comes with DVD drive and that could be considering as pros and cons, with an Amazon app, you can watch movies with a 1080p definition that is not available from DVDs, so if you are already have  HDTVs, this is a good time to enjoy a true HD 1080p quality from your XBOX 360 with no need to buy Blu-ray player or internet streaming player.

And with the Instant Video services available on XBOX 360, I think it is a good time to buy a true surround headset to enjoy both movie watching and gaming or you can even buy a true 7.1 surround headset for this matters !

In overall, Bose QuietComfort 15  is much better headphones and made for the average music listeners, If you don’t mind the cool looks, definitely got to Bose QuietComfort 15, but if you think headphones is one of your accessories, Beats is not a bad idea at all, you may need to make up your mind, fashion headphones or serious headphones ?

another choice is buy a Bluetooth receiver that is very cheap like Sony Ericsson Hi-Fi Bluetooth Stereo Headset with FM Radio and use your audiophile headphones (but why bother use the Bluetooth receiver ?). The only problem for you, if you use a Bluetooth wireless headphones for your PS Vita is you mic, I don’t quite sure if you can use the built-in Vita mic for gaming while wearing a Bluetooth headphones, but I think you can do that.

What you will be lost if you pick Sony MDRDS6500 over Ear Force PX5 is mic, because Sony MDRDS6500 is not a gaming headset but it is a surround headphones, so it lacks of mic, but in contrast, what you will get from Sony MDRDS6500 is a good audio quality, if you use PS3 as your home entertainment center for Blu-ray, gaming, and also music listening, Sony MDRDS6500 can offer you a great feature for music listening that gaming headset cannot give you. So you may need to ask yourself carefully, what exactly you need, a top of the line gaming headset Ear Force PX5 that great for gaming and mic but you have to accept that music is not so great for this headset, or what you want is a surround headphones that can be use for gaming, movie watching and music listening, but it lacks of mic.

but I think its sound is not so good compare to Dolby surround headphones. So, if you are thinking to buy a mid price Dolby headphones, which one is the best choice for you ? If you use your game console as your home theater source as well, then I’d like to recommend  Sony MDR-DS6500 since it comes with optical out that match Sony MDR-DS6500, this Dolby surround supports 7.1 surround system so if you have a PS3 that can play a Blu-ray disc and offers a 7.1 sound system, you may love this headphones. While if you connect your XBOX and PS3 with your AVR, another option for a wireless  surround sound Dolby headphones is Pioneer SE-DIR800C since it comes with a variety of connections, its decoder may limited to 5.1 channels but I think it is enough for a headphones, and how about Sennheiser RS 170 ? In my opinion, this stereo virtual surround headphones is out of a table, it lacks of multi-channel connectivity and tends to convert your stereo channel to 5.1 channel, that’s for me, is unacceptable !
