another choice is buy a Bluetooth receiver that is very cheap like Sony Ericsson Hi-Fi Bluetooth Stereo Headset with FM Radio and use your audiophile headphones (but why bother use the Bluetooth receiver ?). The only problem for you, if you use a Bluetooth wireless headphones for your PS Vita is you mic, I don’t quite sure if you can use the built-in Vita mic for gaming while wearing a Bluetooth headphones, but I think you can do that.

Dolby Headphones for gaming, Sony MDR-DS6500, Pioneer SE-DIR800C and Sennheiser RS 170 ?

but I think its sound is not so good compare to Dolby surround headphones. So, if you are thinking to buy a mid price Dolby headphones, which one is the best choice for you ? If you use your game console as your home theater source as well, then I’d like to recommend  Sony MDR-DS6500 since it comes with optical out that match Sony MDR-DS6500, this Dolby surround supports 7.1 surround system so if you have a PS3 that can play a Blu-ray disc and offers a 7.1 sound system, you may love this headphones. While if you connect your XBOX and PS3 with your AVR, another option for a wireless  surround sound Dolby headphones is Pioneer SE-DIR800C since it comes with a variety of connections, its decoder may limited to 5.1 channels but I think it is enough for a headphones, and how about Sennheiser RS 170 ? In my opinion, this stereo virtual surround headphones is out of a table, it lacks of multi-channel connectivity and tends to convert your stereo channel to 5.1 channel, that’s for me, is unacceptable !

Steel Series Spectrum 7xb maybe one of your choice. While 5xb comes with a flexible feature for travel as well as 7XB but it has no wireless feature (that could be a good option as well if you play your XBOX 360 console with around 32 inch HDTV, or on the other hand say if you don’t mind about wireless freedom thing because 7XB has some weight since it uses 2 AAA battery) and it 12 ft cable is long enough (for 32 inch HDTV), but if you won’t mind about Travel Friendly feature and you won’t mind about wireless either, Steel Series Spectrum 4xb maybe the best choice, since it is a budget gaming headset with the under 50 USD price.

SteelSeries Spectrum 7XB review, should you buy this XBOX 360 wireless headset ?

SteelSeries release its latest XBOX 360 gaming headset, Spectrum 7XB that comes with a ExactSND and LiveMix, if you still wonder should you buy this gaming headset, here is our SteelSeries Spectrum 7XB review : In term of design, SteelSeries Spectrum 7XB is come with a very neat – well made headset with high quality plastic and very durable. but in contrast SteelSeries Spectrum 7XB is also comes with some weight.

Both side of phones have a SteelSeries logos, with the right pad controller buttons including volume increase, volume decrease, headphone on/off, ExactSND that is a preset equalizer button and also LiveMix that is a balance control between MIC and game sound. Since SteelSeries Spectrum 7XB is a budget headset so you cannot have a lithium ion battery (What !) what you’ll need are 2 of AAA battery that in my opinion, I don’t like it since it would cause weight on your headset and it’s not so comfortable to wear a heavy weight headset especially for a gaming headset that you may wear it couple hours a day. But in contrast if you are looking for a budget XBOX 360 wireless headset, SteelSeries Spectrum 7XB is one of the choice, it also comes with a wireless transmitter base for PC or Mac as well. So should you buy it ?

In my opinion, even it has been labeled as wireless gaming headset, but I think it is not the true wireless since it has to be plugged with XBOX 360 controller via a voice regulator cable. But with the price under 100 USD. This is one of an interesting stereo gaming headset, but if I were you I will add more money and looking for a budget virtual surround gaming headset such as Chimaera or you may want to check out Ear Force X41.

If you are looking for a true surround headset with a price of under 100 USD and you want to keep it brand name, perhaps you may want to check out the Turtle Beach Ear Force Z6A TBS-2214, it is a wire gaming headset that works with PC (you’ll need to buy a surround sound card to use this headset properly), you can use Turtle Beach Ear Force Z6A TBS-2214 as a gaming headset as well, but it would works as a stereo gaming headset due to a lacks of surround decoder. Turtle Beach Ear Force Z6A TBS-2214 offers a great 8 speakers in side phones (4 on each pad) with separate channel jacks and cables. while with a “True Surround” headset, you will get at least 4 tiny speakers on each phone, this virtual surround might be good in term of price, it would help gamers to get a cheap price surround gaming headset, but in contrast this technology can also confuse some one who is looking for a true surround gaming headset, that’s in my opinion, is a better quality surround system (I may an old fashion about this ! but I still believe when it comes to audio stuffs, I think virtual is not what I am looking for).

Lately, There are two gaming headsets that always put together for a comparison, a Razer Chimaera 5.1 and a Logitech G930, I am pretty sure that  Logitech G930 is a virtual surround headset, but I don’t quite sure about Razer Chimaera 5.1, but I think it is a virtual surround as well. (if you are looking for a cheap true surround headset for your XBOX, try Ear Force X41, by far it is one of the cheapest gaming headset), but for a surround headset for your PC gaming, I think if you don’t have a great surround sound card, you may want to buy a Chimaera 5.1 since it come with a great decoder base station, but  if you are already have a great sound card, and what you are looking for is a headset that could bring a good performance of your expensive, I think  Logitech G930 is a good choice.
